Silymarin expresses membrane-stabilizing and antioxidant activities, promotes regeneration of the liver, reduces inflammatory reactions, and inhibits fibrogenesis. NAC inhibits hepatocyte apoptosis and oxidative stress pathways and is a precursor for (and regulator of) glutathione synthesis.
